Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a Pharmacy Technician III to assist the Pharmacist in pharmaceutical care, including IV admixtures. You will train staff, support performance improvement, and ensure efficient unit-dose operations in a hospital setting.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of pharmacy experience, relevant certifications, and strong knowledge of medical terminology, PYXIS, and sterile products.

Qualifications

• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Education: High school diploma or GED required.
• Licenses/Certifications: current Pharmacy Tech registration or Pharmacist intern registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy; ACPE IV Certification preferred.
• Pharmacy Sterile Product certification required if incumbent compounds sterile products.
• Five years pharmacy experience preferred, hospital setting preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficiency in unit dose area, sterile product preparation, PYXIS, and performance improvement activities.
• Computer skills: Word and Excel experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Selects prescribed medications and delivers to patient care areas.
• Stocks and monitors drug inventory levels, ensuring up-to-date supplies.
• Inspects and maintains emergency medication trays.
• Packages and labels unit dose medications and maintains pre-pack records.
• Responds to medication requests from nursing and other departments.
• Documents charges and reconciles medication billing in the system.
• Prepares IV antimicrobials, TPN solutions, epidurals and IV chemotherapy as trained.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and staff training.
• Maintains pharmacy system databases and ensures technology safety checks.
• Gathers medication histories and acts as liaison with patients and staff.
