Job summary

Optum is seeking a Senior Pharmacy Technician in Braintree, MA to support pharmacy operations, lead staff, process prescriptions, and assist the Pharmacist with Schedule II handling under MA regulations. Responsibilities include patient service, inventory management, vaccines administration, and regulatory compliance.

Full-time role with 40 hours/week and rotating weekend coverage. External candidates are eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus; hourly pay ranges from $18 to $32 depending on

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • PTCB/CPhT/NHA certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Active MA Pharmacy Technician license.
  • Immunization Administration certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • BLS certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • 1+ years of Pharmacy Technician experience.
  • Access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Process prescriptions, data entry, and prepare medications including compounding and labeling.
  • Deliver excellent customer service during medication pick-up, payment processing, and counseling offers.
  • Manage inventory, receive and inspect shipments, price and store medications, and restock clinical areas.
  • Administer vaccines, report safety events, and contribute to quality improvement and departmental initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the pharmacy team, uphold regulations, and maintain required certifications.
  • May travel to other sites if needed.

As a Senior Pharmacy Technician, you will perform a wide range of routine and complex pharmaceutical duties in support of pharmacy operations. Assume a lead role among support staff within the pharmacy. Relieves the Pharmacist of duties related to the intake of new prescription information and the handling of Schedule II controlled substances per MA Board of Pharmacy regulations.

Schedule

Full time, 40 hours/week. Will be working an 8-hr shift during Site Operating Hours of: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 8:00pm, with rotating Saturday/Sunday rotation 9:00am - 5:00pm

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support pharmacists by processing prescriptions, entering data, and preparing medications including compounding and labeling

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician through PTCB, CPhT, or NHA or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Massachusetts
  • Certified in Immunization Administration by an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education ("ACPE") accredited training program or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
  • 1+ years of Pharmacy Technician experience
  • Access to reliable transportation
Preferred Qualification:
  • 2+ years of experience in a retail pharmacy or outpatient pharmacy setting
