Job summary

NHS Lothian is seeking a Lead Pharmacist for Surgical Services at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Band 8A, 1.0 WTE, 36 Hours, Permanent.

The post leads service transformation and works with an innovative multidisciplinary team to improve patient safety and outcomes in vascular and general surgery, advancing peri-operative pharmaceutical care.

Qualifications

• MPharm degree and GPhC registration are required.
• Independent prescribing qualification is required.
• Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or demonstrate equivalent competence.
• If no Diploma/MSc, demonstrate progress across the four pillars of the RPS Core Advanced Curriculum.
• If Diploma/MSc completed, complete the learning needs analysis (LNA) and PDP plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead service transformation initiatives in the surgical services.
• Integrate pharmacists into multidisciplinary ward rounds.
• Develop advanced pharmacist roles within peri-operative medicine.
• Collaborate with surgical and critical care teams to improve patient outcomes.
