Job summary

Cogent Scientific in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an Experienced Pharma Organic Chemist to lead synthesis and analytical support across multiple drug development projects.

You'll execute Bayesian-design experiments, develop UPLC methods, enhance yield and purity, and collaborate with cross-functional teams while documenting results per GMP standards. This is a day shift position (8a–5p local time) with competitive benefits and relocation if needed.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry with 5+ years of organic chemistry experience, pharma preferred.
• Strong bench chemistry across small molecule, peptide, and oligonucleotide contexts.
• Familiarity with Bayesian optimization and kinetic modeling workflows.
• Detail-oriented with a track record of high-quality results across multiple projects.
• Ability to prioritize, manage ambiguity, and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Execute synthesis across multiple drug development projects from early routes to process optimization.
• Develop and validate UPLC and analytical methods to support reaction development.
• Generate data to optimize reaction conditions for improved yield and purity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot reactions and share insights.
• Maintain records and notebooks per Good Documentation Practices.
