About the Role:

The Senior Patient Financial Services Representatives are integral to the revenue cycle, focusing on reducing accounts receivable and enhancing patient experience post-care. They work with insurance companies to secure payments for hospital bills, researching and holding payers accountable within contractual and timely frameworks. This role offers a sense of accomplishment in resolving insurance issues and opportunities for growth in collections and accounts receivable expertise.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday: 8 AM - 5 PM AZ Time

Remote Work Eligibility:

Position Summary:

This role involves coordinating patient billing and collections, managing accounts through the billing process, and working with payors to ensure reimbursement. Leadership and training of the patient financial services team are key responsibilities, along with serving as a resource for complex cases and departmental needs.

Core Functions:
  1. Provide leadership, training, and support to the Patient Financial Services team, lead projects, and suggest process improvements.
  2. Process payments, claims, adjustments, refunds, denials, and payment plans accurately and timely.
  3. Reconcile accounts, pursue balances, and work with payors to maximize reimbursement.
  4. Research and resolve payment issues, denials, and discrepancies, making appeals as needed.
  5. Build relationships with internal departments and external providers, identify payment trends, and communicate effectively.
  6. Respond to billing inquiries and provide excellent customer service to patients and providers.
  7. Reduce accounts receivable balances and meet collection goals.
  8. Utilize systems for data analysis and communication with payors.
  9. Work independently, following standards, and use critical thinking to resolve issues.
Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED or equivalent, with 2+ years of experience in patient financial services, insurance, or related fields. Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processes, and strong communication skills are required. Proficiency in office software is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Banner systems, prior collections experience, or a background in finance or related fields is preferred.
