Job summary

Advance Testing Company is seeking a Senior Petrographer based in Campbell Hall, NY, to lead petrographic analysis of rocks, minerals, concrete and related construction materials. You will interpret data from multiple microscopes and contribute to project reports.

The ideal candidate holds a geology or earth science degree with at least 5 years of concrete petrography experience, strong rock/mineral identification skills, and familiarity with ASTM standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in geology or earth science with emphasis on geological and concrete materials science.
• Minimum 5 years of concrete petrography experience.

Responsibilities

• Petrographic examination of rocks, minerals, concrete and related materials using stereomicroscope, polarized light, reflected light and fluorescence microscopy.
• Evaluate alkali-silica reaction, sulfate attack and other degradation factors.
• Perform air-void system analysis of hardened concrete.
• Conduct point-count analysis with various microscopes.
• Prepare specimens and initial documentation.
