Job summary

Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is offering an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious Anaesthetist to join our well-integrated Perioperative team at Freeman Hospital.

The successful candidate would provide specialist peri-operative care including pre-operative assessment, intra-operative anaesthetic management and post-operative care to patients undergoing a wide range of operative procedures, with on call participation on the general theatre on call rota.

Qualifications

• Primary Medical Qualification.
• Full GMC Registration.
• Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register within 6 months.
• Evidence of experience in the specialty.
• Substantial commitment to the specialty.
• Ability to offer expert clinical opinion within the specialty.
• Ability to take independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients referred to a tertiary centre.
• Higher degree.
• Special skills training in the specialty.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-operative assessment and peri-operative care for elective and emergency patients across surgical specialties (excluding cardiothoracic).
• Provide anaesthesia for all directorate surgical specialties for elective and emergency patients.
• On-call commitment to the general on call rota.
• Flexible sessions, and sessions in emergency surgery may be included in the job plan.
• Work with teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Clinical sessions will be five hours and include theatre anaesthesia with pre- and post-operative care.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies.
