Job summary

Sands is seeking a Senior Performance Engineer to lead performance engineering for a business-critical enterprise application suite, in preparation for go-live at a Sands property. The role focuses on baselining performance, validating scalability under production-like loads, and forecasting capacity on on-premises hardware.

You will operate in an OpenShift on bare-metal environment, collaborating with developers, DBAs and platform engineers. Strong scripting and API testing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of seven years of experience in performance engineering or performance testing of enterprise web applications.
• Ability to work independently and test hypotheses with minimal direction.
• Experience with capacity planning for fixed on-prem infrastructure and forecasting future needs.
• Hands-on scripting with JMeter and at least one other load testing tool (Artillery, k6, Gatling or Locust).
• Experience with Playwright or a browser automation tool for UI performance testing.
• Strong understanding of load and endurance testing and percentile-based analysis.
• Proficiency in REST API testing and service-to-service communication in distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Establish, measure and maintain performance baselines across API, service and UI scenarios.
• Develop workload models derived from production data and stakeholder input.
• Design, develop and maintain performance test scripts using JMeter, Artillery and Playwright.
• Execute load and endurance tests in a dedicated performance environment.
• Validate scalability and report headroom for hardware planning.
• Analyze results, identify regressions and determine root causes with cross-functional teams.
• Prepare performance reports and present findings to stakeholders.
• Coordinate testing dependencies including test data and integration stubs.
