Job summary

Workday, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Performance Engineer to optimize Kubernetes platforms and AWS GovCloud infrastructure. You will drive deep-dive performance diagnostics, capacity forecasting, and cloud-cost strategies in a hybrid, on-site/remote setup.

You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to establish performance benchmarks, design resilient systems, and mentor others in profiling and troubleshooting techniques.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience building, scaling, and maintaining production cloud infrastructure, DevOps pipelines, or platform engineering systems.
• Terraform or Terragrunt proficiency (2+ years for mid-level, 3+ years for senior).
• CI/CD & GitOps with Argo CD, Jenkins, or GitLab CI (2–3+ years).
• Go or Python proficiency (2–3+ years).
• Leadership experience to mentor engineers and drive initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose performance bottlenecks across Kubernetes workloads in AWS GovCloud.
• Build capacity forecasting models and run stress/load tests.
• Optimize cloud resources and implement FinOps strategies.
• Develop telemetry, tracing, and monitoring for performance visibility.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning with Terraform/Terragrunt and Argo CD.
• Collaborate with security, platform, and software teams to set performance benchmarks.
