Overview

Sr Pension Processor role at Voice Mobility. SEIU Healthcare IL Benefit Funds is a dynamic benefits administration organization serving over 20,000 union workers with health and pension benefits. The Fund values quality service, interdependence, effectiveness, and accountability.

Responsibilities
  • The Pension Processor, Senior Level analyzes and calculates various pension benefits by applying applicable tax rules under the IRS, ERISA, and plan regulations. May perform administrative duties including communicating with members, responding to pension benefits inquiries, and obtaining notarized documents for pensioner files. Prepare, balance and complete the monthly benefit check run and fully reconcile final payment amounts.
  • Communicate internally with the Contribution and Eligibility, Finance, and Member Service departments to understand and execute interdepartmental workflows; externally with employers, the union, members, and Fund vendors.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Pension Department operations and pursue continuous process improvement.
  • Provide expertise and critical thinking to support the team in completing assignments, meeting deadlines, and representing the organization positively.
  • Review pensioner applications and supporting documents to determine eligibility and completeness; follow up with members as needed.
  • Respond to and document inquiries from retirees and pensioners; provide high-quality customer service.
  • Calculate and communicate final estimated benefit amounts to members.
  • Reconcile monthly pensioner check runs and balance final payments with interdepartmental reporting to accounting.
  • Lead or assist with special projects and process improvements as directed by management.
  • Process Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) with support from Fund Counsel.
  • Provide outreach campaigns to educate members and employers on retirement benefits and financial wellbeing.
  • Act as Pension Technology Liaison for the benefit administration system, coordinating with vendor consultants and maintaining open items list.
  • Attend and participate in meetings; create meeting agendas and maintain thorough notes.
  • Back-up duties of lower-level Pension Processors and the Pension Clerk as needed.
Privacy and Security

This role handles Personal Identifiable Information (PII) and potentially Protected Health Information (PHI). Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all PII/PHI. Report any suspected HIPAA violations to the HIPAA Privacy and Security Officer.

Requirements
Education
  • High School diploma or GED
  • An Associate Degree or higher in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance or similar is preferred
Job Requirements
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience processing pension and/or retiree benefit claims
  • Ability to meet performance standards for processing quality and production
  • Typing speed of 35 WPM
  • Proficiency with desktop and office equipment
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and mathematical abilities; detail-oriented with good time management
  • Ability to work independently and within a team; strong accountability
  • Ability to meet deadlines; sound judgment
  • Willingness to assist in special projects and handle multiple tasks
Preferred Skills
  • Taft-Hartley experience
  • CEBS certification
  • Experience with multiple languages (English, Spanish, Polish) is a plus
  • Knowledge of the Fund’s benefit administration system
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Smartsheet)
  • Experience working remotely with laptop; familiarity with Teams/Zoom
