Job description

ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.

At AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. And we’re looking for talent who feel the same: people who want to leave the planet better than they found it, those who don’t shy away from humanity’s challenges but are determined to help solve them.

AMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or creating go-to-market plans, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward.

THE ROLE:

The Senior Product Development Engineer is responsible for product bring-up, characterization, product definition, and production test solution development for leading-edge semiconductor products. This hands-on role partners closely with Design, DFT, Platform Validation, Manufacturing, and Quality teams throughout the product lifecycle, from pre-silicon test planning through high-volume manufacturing. Responsibilities include identifying test coverage gaps, developing and validating test hardware and software, driving silicon debug and characterization, optimizing yield and test cost, and delivering robust, high-quality test solutions that meet product performance, quality, and manufacturability goals.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth in semiconductor product engineering with a passion for solving complex silicon and manufacturing challenges. You are a collaborative, data-driven engineer who excels in cross-functional environments, takes ownership of technical deliverables, communicates effectively across all levels of the organization, and continuously seeks opportunities to improve product quality, yield, and engineering efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and deploy production test solutions, including hardware, software, and test content, that meet quality, coverage, and cost targets.
  • Drive silicon bring-up, characterization, product definition, margin analysis, and performance optimization from first silicon through production.
  • Investigate and resolve silicon, test, yield, and manufacturing issues through structured root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Partner with Design, DFT, Platform Validation, Manufacturing, and Hardware Infrastructure teams to ensure testability, quality, and production readiness.
  • Analyze characterization, yield, and manufacturing data to support engineering decisions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Validate ATE hardware and software, improve yield and test efficiency, and mentor junior engineers on product development best practices.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience supporting high-volume semiconductor products from development through production.
  • Hands‑on silicon debug and characterization, including PCIe and DDR signal integrity analysis.
  • Knowledge of DFT methodologies, including BIST, loopback, boundary scan, and pattern generation flows.
  • Experience analyzing characterization, yield, test, and manufacturing data to drive product improvements.
  • Exposure to probe card, wafer sort, and final test hardware development and manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency with Python, Bash, Git, VS Code, data analytics, AI/ML techniques, and computer architecture concepts such as GPU or x86 systems.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
