Job summary

Rocket EMS is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead and sustain Class 3 PCBA production in a high-mix environment. You will drive process improvements from concept to implementation and partner with Production, Quality, Test, Program Management, and Supply Chain to ensure manufacturability and compliance with IPC standards and aerospace/defense requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering or related field; equivalent hands-on experience considered.
• 7+ years in electronics manufacturing, PCBA assembly, aerospace/defense/high-reliability environments.
• Strong knowledge of PCBA processes: SMT, through-hole, soldering, rework, inspection, cleaning, coating, test support.
• Experience with Class 3 or high-reliability assemblies.
• Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001.
• Proven root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvement.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, instructions, and customer docs.
• Excellent Excel skills and standard manufacturing documentation tools.
• Strong communication across operators, engineers, quality, customers, and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day manufacturing operations for Class 3 PCBA assembly, rework, test, coating, and final inspection processes.
• Provide technical guidance to production teams to resolve issues, bottlenecks, yield concerns, and interruptions.
• Review customer docs, drawings, BOMs, specs, and work instructions for manufacturability and readiness.
• Develop and improve manufacturing processes for SMT, selective solder, hand solder, mechanical assembly, coating, and related areas.
• Support new product introductions, first article builds, prototypes, and ramp activities.
• Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions; drive improvements in cycle time, line balance, and material flow.
