Job summary

Core Laboratories is seeking a Senior Payroll Administrator to provide full payroll support across multiple states. You will ensure accurate bi-weekly processing, tax compliance, and timely reporting using Workday Payroll and related HRIS tools.

This on-site, full-time role in Houston requires a Bachelor's in accounting or finance, 5+ years of in-house payroll experience, multi-state tax knowledge, and strong Excel skills; CPP is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred.
• Minimum five years of in-house payroll experience.
• Multi-state payroll tax experience required.
• HRIS experience, including Workday Payroll.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits deductions, and tax withholdings.
• Prepare and reconcile payroll journal entries for monthly close.
• Manage payroll tax reporting with third-party providers.
• Administer special payroll processes (bonuses, commissions, incentives).
• Review and transmit NACHA files for employee payments.
• Develop ad hoc payroll analyses and management reports.
• Support audits with payroll records and reconciliations.
• Test and implement payroll tax/HRIS enhancements.
• Audit payroll data in Workday for accuracy and integrity.
• Support Canadian payroll processing activities and compliance.
• Provide payroll data for tax reporting and financial statements.
• Investigate discrepancies and implement solutions.
• Maintain internal controls and SOX-compliant procedures.
• Propose improvements to payroll processes and controls.
• Deliver responsive customer service to payroll inquiries.
