Job summary

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University seeks a detail-oriented Senior Payroll and Benefits Accountant to safeguard the accuracy of payroll and benefits accounting. This role partners with Payroll Services, Human Resources, and Finance to analyze transactions, manage reconciliations, and support GAAP-compliant financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has extensive payroll and benefits accounting experience, strong Excel and Workday skills, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Seven years of progressive accounting experience including payroll and benefits.
• Master's degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll and benefits accounting transactions and classifications.
• Prepare financial reports, schedules and related liabilities/expenses.
• Lead complex reconciliations of payroll and benefits GL accounts.
• Support GAAP compliance, payroll taxation, and retirement/healthcare requirements.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and corrective actions.
• Develop dashboards and automate reconciliation and reporting processes.
• Collaborate with Payroll Services, HR, and Finance across university units.
• Utilize Workday to analyze transactions and improve processes.
