Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support a decentralized patient-centered approach. Under RN supervision, you will monitor vital signs, assist with daily activities, and provide emotional support, while ensuring room readiness and supplies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keep patient rooms tidy and sanitized.
• Assist patient with daily activities including hygiene and grooming.
• Monitor vital signs and report changes to nursing staff.
• Assist with basic treatments under supervision of nursing staff.
• Ensure adequate supplies and clean linen in rooms.
• Provide emotional support to patients.
• Place patient on cardiac monitor as needed.
• Empty drains/ostomies/foley bags.
• Perform blood glucose checks.
• Support department leadership with additional tasks as assigned.
