Cytokinetics, a cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company in South San Francisco, seeks a Senior Patent Agent to help build and protect its IP portfolio. You will work with R&D and Legal to identify patentable inventions and manage prosecutions for small-molecule therapeutics.

You’ll partner with scientists, lead patent strategy discussions, and support due diligence for licensing and collaborations, while navigating U.S. and international patent law to protect Cytokinetics' innovations.

Qualifications

• Registered Patent Agent with USPTO.
• 5+ years of patent prep and prosecution in pharma/biotech.
• Experience with small molecule therapeutics.
• Ability to partner with scientists and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and prosecute patent applications for small molecules.
• Identify patentable inventions through interactions with project teams.
• Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate searches related to compounds.
• Prosecute US patents and coordinate with outside/foreign counsel.
• Support IP diligence for licensing, collaboration, and business development.
• Review publications and disclosures for IP risks and strategy.
• Attend research meetings to provide patent strategy guidance.
• Communicate IP risks to internal stakeholders and resolve issues.
