Responsibilities

• Prepare sermons and studies. Spend significant time in prayer and Bible study
• Participate in evangelism efforts through preaching and invitations during worship services and outreach
• Perform other duties as needed to enhance the Lord’s work at First Baptist Church, Madisonville
• Serve as business administrator or designate an associate pastor, per church by-laws
• Conduct staff meetings and provide general supervision to the staff
• Serve as moderator to church business meetings
• Approve speakers for worship services, weddings, funerals conducted by the church
• Visit hospitalized or grieving members and designate staff/deacons for these duties
• Provide leadership and vision for pastoral and ministerial staff
• Conduct timely staff meetings and be an ex-officio member of church committees
• Provide premarital counseling and spiritual counseling for church members
• Enlist pulpit speakers and revival personnel
• Lead innovative ministries and advise across church areas
• Provide leadership to the Deacon body and attend meetings when possible
• Encourage discovery and development of spiritual gifts among members
• Be involved in Southern Baptist denominational work as needed
• Officiate or delegate officiating at weddings and funerals
• Oversee ordinances of the Lord’s Supper and Believer’s Baptism
• Oversee church discipline and promote unity

Job description

First Baptist Church Madisonville, TX seeks the man chosen by God to be our Senior Pastor.
A man of integrity, fully committed to shepherding the flock through the study and teaching of God’s Word; devoted to prayer, personally and corporately, and evangelistic towards our community and surrounding area.

Paid; Full Time; With Benefits; Exempt

Work Week: (5) calendar days, including Sundays. Weekday Office Hours: 9am-5pm. Saturday is considered a day off except for emergencies and special occasions. All time commitments to be in accordance with Personnel Policy and Procedures Manual.

Basic Functions: The Senior Pastor shall serve as the chief administrator, lead under shepherd and overseer of this local church; feeding, leading and nurturing the sheep and encouraging other staff to take responsibility for initiative in their assigned areas. In consultation with the Personnel Committee, he shall make changes in responsibilities when necessary to fit the needs of the Church and/or the gifts and personalities of the staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare sermons and studies. Spend significant time in prayer and Bible study
• Participate in evangelism efforts through preaching and giving invitations during worship services, revival or other special services, visitation and other outreach efforts
• Perform other duties as may be needed to enhance the Lord’s work at First Baptist Church, Madisonville
• Serve as business administrator or designate an associate pastor, according to Church by-laws
• Conduct staff meetings and give general supervision to the entire staff
• Serve as moderator to the Church business meetings
• Serve as the approval authority of all speakers at the worship services, wedding, and funerals conducted in representation of the Church and in the Church facilities
• Contact/visit hospitalized or grieving church members and other ministerial visits and/or designate ministerial staff and deacons to these assignments
• Provide leadership and vision for the pastoral and ministerial staff
• Conduct timely staff meetings
• Serve as an ex-officio member of all Church committees
• Provide or delegate premarital counseling, counseling regarding salvation and spiritual issues and other counseling for church members as time permits
• Enlist pulpit speakers, revival personnel, and leaders of special Bible studies
• Lead the Church in initiating innovative and effective ministries and act in an advisory capacity as needed in all areas
• Give leadership to the Deacon body and attend all meetings, when possible
• Encourage the discovery and development of spiritual gifts among Church membership
• Be involved in Southern Baptist denominational work and become involved in other work of the Church when needed
• Officiate or delegate officiating at weddings and funerals
• Perform or delegate officiating the ordinances of the Lord’s Supper and Believer’s Baptism
• Oversee Church discipline and manage conflict in the church. Seek to reconcile relationships and promote unity within the church.
