Job summary

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC)–Montgomery Parks is seeking a Principal Parks/Facilities Maintenance Worker-PAC at South Germantown Recreation Park in Germantown, MD. This full-time role focuses on safe maintenance of parks, trails, athletic fields, and facilities, with a required PAC within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities include operating heavy equipment, carpentry-like repairs, and coordinating with staff to ensure high-quality park experiences.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; four years of progressively responsible experience in groundskeeping, building maintenance or park maintenance.
• Maryland pesticide applicator certification within 12 months of hire and CDL may be required depending on assignment.

Responsibilities

• Operate mid- to large-sized equipment and vehicles.
• Perform maintenance of park grounds, playgrounds, buildings, athletic fields, and stormwater facilities.
• Maintain athletic fields by raking, dragging, grading, and applying pesticides.
• Complete minor repairs and basic carpentry, custodial, and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Provide limited direction to other maintenance staff and respond to emergencies and severe weather events.
• Work with safety procedures and ensure proper use of pesticides, fertilizers, and cleaning materials.
