Job summary

MARTA is seeking a qualified paralegal with at least four years of relevant experience to provide broad legal and administrative support in workers’ compensation and employment law matters. The role involves case management, coordination with outside counsel, and preparation for hearings and depositions.

The position requires strong MS Office skills, familiarity with e-filing systems, and excellent oral and written communication abilities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and a paralegal certificate.
• A minimum of four (4) years of relevant paralegal, litigation support, or legal administrative experience.
• Bachelor’s degree may substitute for the required experience.
• Experience with LexisNexis or Westlaw research, e-filing systems, PACER and Abacus systems and WordPerfect is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gathers, reviews, and organizes information related to workers’ compensation, employment law, and general litigation matters.
• Prepares legal correspondence, case-related forms, discovery responses, subpoenas, and responses to non-party requests for attorney review.
• Maintains assigned case files and processes filings with agencies and courts.
• Performs e-filing of legal documents with applicable courts and submits PACER filings.
• Attends court hearings and coordinates depositions, witness meetings, hearings, and other proceedings.
• Monitors deadlines and notifies attorneys of significant developments.
• Prepares and manages citations, garnishments, service of process, and related documents.
• Assists with communications by preparing presentations and reports.
