Job summary

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in New York seeks an experienced Senior Paralegal for its Investment Management Practice Group. The Senior Paralegal will work with client teams to perform a variety of basic and increasingly complex tasks for Private Fund clients within the Investment Management practice area.

The role requires six years of transactional paralegal experience, a four-year college degree, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work overtime.

Qualifications

Job description

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking an experienced Senior Paralegal for our Investment Management Practice Group. The Senior Paralegal will work as an integral part of various client teams to perform a variety of basic and increasingly complex tasks for our Private Fund clients within the Investment Management practice area. Morgan Lewis recognizes the benefits of supporting flexible working arrangements. This position will reside in our New York office with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule. Flexibility with overtime is required.

Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of basic and increasingly complex work under the supervision of attorneys and with the guidance of supervisory or senior paralegals.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and organizational skills to manage ongoing projects and assist attorneys in meeting project deadlines and client needs.
  • Assists attorneys with the formation of new entities (corporations, limited partnerships, limited liability companies, etc.) and related organizational matters (State filings, tax identification numbers (EINs), etc.).
  • Completes, coordinates, and manages transfer processes for sales and purchases of interests in private funds (including transfer documents, investor questionnaires, anti-money laundering and know-your-client packets, and more).
  • Participates in hedge fund and private equity fund launches and periodic fund raising.
  • Drafts, monitors and completes subscription documents.
  • Maintains project timelines and agendas, organizing materials and otherwise assisting with a variety of new and ongoing projects.
  • Serves as the "gatekeeper" for ongoing projects, monitoring progress to ensure that projects remain on track and maintaining organized project files.
  • Interacts with clients and working team members to distribute draft documents for review and to coordinate receipt and reconciliation of client comments on distributions.
  • Coordinates signatures for contracts, including e-Signatures and DocuSign.
  • Compiles closing documents and post-closing records.
  • Proofreads various documents.
  • Organizes and maintains client records and files and makes client documents and files easily accessible for attorneys and working groups.
  • Over time, acquires and grows knowledge of the federal securities laws and legal concepts and terminology and demonstrates the ability to apply such knowledge to daily tasks to contribute to work products in a thoughtful and effective manner.
  • Applies solid computer skills and becomes proficient with practice-specific technologies.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, common sense, and ingenuity to apply knowledge to assess alternatives and to identify and recommend solutions.
Experience/Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • A minimum of 6 years of transactional paralegal experience at a large law firm.

For positions in New York, NY, the salary range for this position is: $91,500.00 - $146,325.00.

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors.

The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances.

Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package.

The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.

Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
