Job summary

Doppelt and Forney, APLC is seeking an experienced paralegal to organize, track, and maintain case files, and to prepare Judicial Council forms, pleadings, declarations, and discovery materials in family law matters.

The role requires excellent writing and communication skills, strict confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple cases, calendars, and client communications effectively. A Certificate in Paralegal Studies is required, with a preference for 7+ years in family law.

Qualifications

  • Certificate in Paralegal Studies required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of paralegal experience, 7 years in family law preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal principles and practices.
  • Strong communication and writing skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, track, build, and maintain case files.
  • Prepare Judicial Council forms, pleadings, declarations, trial briefs, binders, exhibits, reports, and spreadsheets.
  • Maintain contact with opposing parties, counsel, and clients.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery and subpoenas.
  • Maintain a calendar to track deadlines per Code of Civil Procedure and Family Law rules.
  • Schedule client appointments, monitor calendars, and inform attorneys of court dates.
  • Assist attorneys with hearing and trial preparation.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties including potential new client intake, answering phones, and collections.

  • Maintain contact with opposing parties, counsel, and clients.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery, which includes demand for the production of documents, interrogatories, requests for admissions, and subpoenas.
  • Maintain a calendar to track deadlines in accordance with the Code of Civil Procedure, Family Law Codes, and the Rules of Court.
  • Schedule client appointments, monitor calendars, and keep attorneys and clients informed of scheduled court dates.
  • Assist attorneys with hearing and trial preparation.
  • Perform miscellaneous job duties related to the position including potential new client intake, answering phones, and collections as needed.

Education/Experience

  • Must possess critical thinking skills, planning, and organizing skills.
  • Strong communication skills and writing skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Word Perfect, Microsoft Office, Essential Forms, Google Calendar, and knowledge of TimeSolv is preferable.
  • Ability to handle multiple cases and job duties effectively and efficiently.
