Job summary

AppLab Systems, Inc. is seeking a packaging engineer to lead end-to-end packaging projects for Vehicle and Energy platforms on a 100% onsite basis.

You will interface with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, NPI and Operations to gather packaging requirements and drive efficient delivery while maintaining quality. Collaborating with supply chain and logistics, you will manage budgets, risks, and vendor relationships, and apply CAD/GD&T with robust tolerance analyses to advance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or design field.
• Hands-on experience with CAD and technical drawings (GD&T).
• Familiarity with diverse manufacturing processes and materials.
• Strong ability to manage multiple packaging projects and risks.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end engineered packaging projects for Vehicle and Energy platforms.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, NPI, and Operations to define packaging requirements.
• Work with Supply Chain and Logistics to ensure timely, quality part delivery.
• Develop designs for protective packaging containers, dunnage, and shipping racks internationally.
• Apply CAD and GD&T and perform tolerance stack-up analyses.
• Monitor KPIs and advance packaging standards with the team.

Job Summary:

What You’ll Do

• Lead end-to-end engineered packaging projects for Vehicle and Energy platforms
• Interface with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, New Product Introduction, and Operations partners to gather and develop packaging requirements
• Partner with Supply Chain and Logistics to drive projects to enable the most efficient delivery of parts possible without sacrificing part quality or manufacturability
• Provide design direction and development plans of protective packaging containers, dunnage and unique shipping racks – domestic and international
• Apply industrial design techniques of CAD, technical drawings, including datum structure, GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis
• Monitor KPI’s and work with Packaging Design Engineers to develop world-class packaging standards and continue to improve upon them
• Drive expendable to returnable projects and participate in sustainability initiatives; Manage project budgets, risks, and change management; Assist in vendor selection and vendor management

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Packaging, Industrial Design, or equivalent work experience with evidence of exceptional ability
• Working knowledge of CAD, and technical drawings, including datum structure, GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes including machining, welding, injection molding etc.
• Strong knowledge in a large variety of materials (aluminum, steel, composites, foam, etc.); Experience with designing to standards such as ASTM, Mil-Spec, etc.
• Strong understanding of packaging testing and validation; Capable of managing multiple priorities at once without sacrificing quality of results
• Proficient at-risk management and communication; Team player with strong process and continuous improvement mindset
