Job summary

WSP is seeking a POWER Testing and Energization (PTE) Senior P&C Field Services Technician for project locations in Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah. You will perform testing and commissioning of Protection & Control systems on high voltage substations and lead field activities in diverse environments.

You will use relay test sets (Omicron, Doble) and document results, while following safety protocols and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience performing testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems in high voltage substations.
• Ability to lead field activities, work with minimal supervision, and document results.
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements for field projects.

Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced technical support across environmental, construction, and infrastructure field activities.
• Lead day-to-day technical activities on site within project parameters.
• Perform on-site protective relay testing and data collection using relay test sets.
• Provide technical direction to junior staff and support project execution and risk mitigation.
• Coordinate with subcontractors on testing logistics and equipment deployment.

Your Impact

• Perform testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations
• Perform on‑site hands‑on protective relay testing using relay test sets such as Omicron CMC 256/356 or Doble F6150. Examples of relays to be tested are SEL-311L, SEL-387, SEL-487, SEL-421, SEL-351S, GE L90, GE D60 among others
• Follow safety protocols and participate in daily safety briefings and job hazard assessments
• Use field forms, digital data tools, and mobile applications to document site activities
• Perform equipment cleaning, inventory control, and calibration as directed
• Support the Project Lead or Field Supervisor on projects
• Apply advanced technical knowledge of field instrumentation and troubleshoot technical issues with minimal supervision
• Lead tailgate safety meetings, daily job hazard analyses, and support regulatory compliance walkthroughs
• Provide input to field schedules, equipment needs, and task prioritization to support project managers
• Coordinate with subcontractors on site preparation, testing logistics, and equipment deployment
• Maintain and track calibration and maintenance logs for field equipment and vehicles
• Monitor and promote compliance with site‑specific health, safety, and environmental protocols
