Job summary

Turner Staffing Group seeks a Senior Modeling and Drilling Geologist to lead gold exploration and resource definition programs from target generation to resource evaluation. You will provide technical leadership across drilling, geological interpretation, modeling, and project advancement while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders to advance exploration, resource development, and mine planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related discipline.
• 8–12 years of progressively responsible geological experience.
• Experience in gold exploration and resource definition.
• Experience with geological modeling and Mineral Resource estimation.
• Proficiency with Leapfrog Geo, Micromine, Datamine, Vulcan or similar.
• Knowledge of NI 43-101, JORC, or S-K 1300 reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan drilling programs (diamond core and RC) for open-pit and underground environments.
• Lead exploration and resource definition drilling programs.
• Develop and manage drilling budgets, forecasts, and schedules.
• Oversee QA/QC for drilling, sampling, and assay data.
• Ensure data collection, validation, and management of geological data.
• Review lab results and investigate data anomalies.

Turner Staffing Group is seeking a Senior Modeling and Drilling Geologist for a direct-hire opportunity with our client in the mining industry.

This position will lead gold exploration and resource definition programs from target generation through resource evaluation. The Senior Modeling and Drilling Geologist will provide technical leadership across drilling programs, geological interpretation, geological modeling, and project advancement while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable regulatory and environmental requirements.

The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders and play an important role in advancing exploration, resource development, and mine planning initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Plan diamond core and reverse circulation (RC) drilling programs for open-pit and underground environments.
• Lead and manage exploration, near-mine, and resource definition drilling programs.
• Develop and manage drilling budgets, forecasts, schedules, and cost controls.
• Implement and oversee QA/QC programs for drilling, sampling, and assay data.
• Ensure accurate collection, validation, and management of geological data.
• Review laboratory results and investigate data anomalies.
• Maintain geological databases and established data-quality standards.
• Ensure geological and drilling activities comply with applicable environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
• Supervise geological staff, field technicians, and drilling contractors.
• Monitor project progress and recommend adjustments to achieve technical and business objectives.
• Conduct core logging, structural interpretation, sampling quality reviews, and geological mapping.
• Interpret geological, structural, geochemical, and geophysical data to identify and evaluate controls on gold mineralization.
• Develop, refine, and update geological resource models using industry-standard software.
• Support Mineral Resource estimation through geological modeling, data validation, and interpretation.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project updates for senior management.
• Contribute to Mineral Resource reports and applicable regulatory disclosure documents.
• Provide geological input for feasibility studies and mine planning activities.
• Identify opportunities to expand or upgrade mineral resources and reserves.
• Communicate exploration, near-mine, and resource definition results and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage team performance and support professional development.
• Promote a strong culture of safety and operational accountability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Sciences, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
• 8–12 years of progressively responsible geological experience, with significant experience in gold exploration, near-mine exploration, resource definition, and project development.
• Demonstrated experience managing exploration and drilling programs.
• Experience with geological modeling and Mineral Resource estimation.
• Strong understanding of relevant gold deposit systems, including orogenic, epithermal, intrusion-related, and/or Carlin-style deposits.
• Experience working in remote exploration or active mining environments.
• Demonstrated ability to manage consultants, contractors, budgets, and project schedules.
• Proficiency with geological modeling software such as Leapfrog Geo, Micromine, Datamine, Vulcan, or similar platforms.
• Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS and geological databases.
• Strong understanding of sampling, QA/QC protocols, and geological data management.
• Working knowledge of Mineral Resource reporting standards such as NI 43-101, JORC Code, and/or S-K 1300, as applicable.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Economic Geology or a related discipline.
• Professional registration, or eligibility for registration, as a Professional Geologist (P.Geo., PG, or equivalent).
