Job summary

Garmin seeks a Senior Oracle ERP Software Engineer at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. You will design and develop complex multi-system applications, collaborating across teams and implementing unit/system tests.

You will work on Oracle EBS/ASCP integrations, extend ERP applications, and mentor junior engineers while aligning with Garmin's business processes in Engineering, Order Management, Warehouse, Inventory and Finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and minimum 5 years relevant experience.
• Proficiency to design, enhance and develop complex multi-system applications.
• Ability to learn and implement secure coding practices.
• Experience using Java, PL/SQL, Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, BI Publisher, Oracle Workflow.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle 11i or R12.

Responsibilities

• Leads complex multi-system application development projects and drives collaboration with other teams/departments.
• Provides technical input to solution development plans and participates in design reviews.
• Develops and supports integrations between multiple systems and/or applications.
• Maintains and extends existing multi-system software; designs testing processes with users.
• Researches new technologies and evaluates feasibility of goals and objectives.
• Mentors less experienced IT Software Engineers (Software Engineer I & II).
• Understands Garmin's business areas including Engineering, Order Management, Warehouse Management, Inventory and Finance.
• Develops reliable solutions to complex problems using ingenuity and creativity.
• Participates in project definition activities like feature analysis and system tradeoffs.
• Designs and develops enterprise applications including Oracle EBS, ASCP and other ERP apps within the SDLC.
• Develops and supports integrations between Oracle eBusiness Suite and other ERP apps.

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Senior Oracle ERP Software Engineer at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex multi-system applications and drives collaboration with others to ensure effective project completion while working collaboratively to develop and implement unit and system testing processes.

Essential Functions

• Leads complex multi-system application development projects and drives collaboration with other teams/departments
• Provides technical input to solution development plans/concept documents and collaborates and adds value in design reviews
• Develops and supports integrations between multiple systems and/or applications
• Maintains, improves, and extends existing multi-system software and works collaboratively with Analysts/users to design software systems and develop/implement unit and system testing processes
• Contributes to advanced technical research on new technologies and determines feasibility of team or functional goals/objectives
• Understands business impacts of issues as they relate to IT owned solutions, provides reliable solutions to wide range of difficult problems including evaluation of new technologies to improve existing functions, and consistently looks at opportunity in all change
• Serves as a mentor to less experienced IT Software Engineers (Software Engineer 1 & 2)
• Demonstrates broad understanding of Garmin’s business model including Engineering, Order Management, Warehouse Management, Inventory and Finance
• Develops reliable solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
• Participates in project definition activities including feature analysis and system tradeoffs
• Designs and develops enterprise business applications including Oracle EBS, ASCP and other business applications as part of a structured Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process
• Develops and supports integrations between Oracle eBusiness Suite and other ERP Applications such as those listed above
• Maintains, improves, and extends Oracle ERP Applications using Java, PL/SQL, Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, BI publisher, Oracle Discoverer, Oracle Workflow and utilization of Oracle public API’s in program development
• Works with Garmin IT Analysts to determine system wide design impacts

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
• Demonstrated experience in successful implementation of technology solutions
• Must demonstrate proficiency and possess the experience necessary to design, enhances and develops complex multi-system applications
• Must demonstrate an ability to learn and understand secure coding practices
• Experience with version control systems such as Subversion or GIT
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to drive projects to effective/timely completion
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Must possess programming experience using Java, PL/SQL, Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, BI publisher, Oracle Workflow and utilization of Oracle public API’s in program development
• Must possess experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle 11i or R12 applications

Desired Qualifications

• Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
• Previous experience working in a team environment
• Experience with Oracle ERP modules including OFL and Warehouse
