Job description

Role highlights:
  • Senior Optomechanical Engineer
  • Location: Warsaw, Poland
  • Department: Engineering / Optical Systems
  • Reports to: Mechanical Engineering Team Lead
  • Employment type: Permanent
  • Workplace model: Hybrid
  • Employment is subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO, where required)
Why this role matters:

As Senior Optomechanical Engineer, you will be the critical link between optical and mechanical engineering, turning advanced optical designs into flight-ready mechanical structures for ICEYE's satellite payloads. Working hands‑on across CAD, materials and precision mechanics, you will own the mechanical design of optomechanical assemblies through every stage of the product lifecycle, from concept and prototyping to manufacturing, integration, testing, and qualification for space. You will ensure that performance, precision, and alignment are preserved as an optical design moves from the design file to a finished satellite instrument.

Your day-to-day responsibilities
  • Own the mechanical side of the optical payload's development, from early concept work through prototyping, and into production, integration, and pre-launch qualification, working hands‑on on CAD design, analysis, and optimization throughout.
  • Sit at the interface between the optical and mechanical domain, reading and interpreting optical designs so that the mechanical structures, mounts, and adjustment mechanisms you build preserve their performance once assembled and tested.
  • Build and maintain close working relationships with external manufacturers and subcontractors, so that the components and mechanisms they deliver meet the precision, alignment, and quality the design calls for.

  • Embracing the challenge, mindset of owning problems and solving them, capability of taking risks and leaning forward when needed. R&D style of learning by doing and iterating on the parts that require improvement.
  • Experience in delivering design through suppliers – proven record of working directly together with manufacturers and subcontractors in order to get the design delivered to production, verified and validated.

Nice to haves:

  • Exposure to space optics.
  • Experience with TVAC and vibration testing, and pre-launch qualification campaigns.
  • Experience selecting and qualifying optical components together with manufacturers.
