You will lead end-to-end development, perform optical simulations with Zemax/Code V, and collaborate with suppliers to deliver robust, manufacturable hardware.

The role requires 5+ years in optical engineering, strong lens/assembly expertise, hands-on hardware experience, and proficiency with Python scripting and LabVIEW for test

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Optics/Optical Engineering/Physics, or related field.
• 5+ years of senior-level optical engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in optical component design including lenses and assemblies.
• Proficiency with Zemax, Code V, or equivalent software; imaging/illumination systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop optical systems and components, including lenses and assemblies.
• Analyze and optimize optical trains for high performance from source to sensor.
• Perform optical simulations using Zemax, Code V, or equivalent software.
• Evaluate performance, identify limitations, and recommend improvements.
• Troubleshoot optical and hardware issues; conduct root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with suppliers on manufacturability, packaging, and timelines.
• Take ownership of optical engineering tasks to meet specs and schedules.
• Estimate engineering effort and define timelines for optical/hardware projects.
• Coordinate with test engineering, electrical teams, and validation groups.
• Support outsourcing strategies, prototyping, and production methods.
