Job summary

Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing Company, seeks an Optical Systems Engineer (Level 5-6) to own EO/IR sensor performance and rendezvous with mission data processing teams. You will model phenomenology, interface with the vehicle team, and lead optical hardware design and tests across programs.

You will collaborate with mission engineering, systems engineering, manufacturing, and test teams, ensuring specs meet mission needs. A TS/SCI clearance is preferred/required at times.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• 14+ years industry experience in optical engineering (advanced degrees may supplement years of experience)
• Experience with performance/phenomenology/modeling of space-based EO sensors (3 years)
• Must be able to obtain US security clearance; US citizenship required

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate mission and unit level requirements for EO/IR sensors, Laser systems, and space vehicle interfaces
• Design and implement modeling and simulation of optical systems
• Develop and execute unit and system level tests on the ground and on-orbit to verify performance
• Manage supplier and partner performance
• Coordinate work statements, budget/schedule, and measure technical performance
• Support large-scale new business proposals
