Job summary

Samtec is hiring an Advanced Packaging Engineer to conceive and mature next‑generation optical technologies. You will work upstream of production on architectures, materials and early demonstrations, influencing technology roadmaps and collaborating with external partners.

The role requires 15+ years in optical or advanced microelectronics development, with a strong background in packaging architectures, materials, and process development, and a proven leadership record.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in optical, optoelectronic, or advanced microelectronics development.
• Background in materials, packaging architectures, and advanced process development.
• Proven track record creating and maturing new technologies from concept through early validation.

Responsibilities

• Define and develop next-generation optical and optoelectronic packaging architectures.
• Lead architectural trade studies on optical performance and materials behavior.
• Lead feasibility studies, proof-of-concept efforts, and early-stage demonstrations.
• Define characterization and reliability evaluation methodologies.
• Contribute to long-term optics and roadmaps; mentor engineers.
