Job summary

SAIC in Aurora/Denver, Colorado seeks a Senior Multi-Disciplinary Optical Engineer to advance space and counter-space engineering for IC/DoD programs. You will lead optical analyses, model satellite signatures, and coordinate with SMEs to deliver high-fidelity solutions across Space Domain Awareness and related missions.

You will guide rapid prototyping of modeling tools, develop satellite models for on-orbit simulations, and present results to program managers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in physics, engineering or math; 9+ years (or 12+ with a master; 9+ with a PhD) of direct optical engineering experience.
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance with CI polygraph; US Citizenship required.
  • Experience with ground/space-based optical or laser systems and SDA-related data processing.
  • Experience with project or task technical leadership and JIRA project management.
  • Familiarity with agile concepts and space system acquisitions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of optical engineers and analysts in program-specific analyses and phenomenology research.
  • Perform rapid prototyping of optical modeling and simulation tools.
  • Design satellite models and optical simulations to inform analyses and trade studies.
  • Develop and refine concepts for space laser systems and architectures.
  • Conduct rigorous link-budget modeling and evaluate system performance.
  • Brief analytical results for stand-alone and broader assessment products.
  • Interact with program managers, SMEs, and external stakeholders to align on CONOPS.
