Job summary

Alcon is seeking a Senior Optical Engineer for its Fort Worth, TX campus to lead end‑to‑end optical design and metrology for intraocular lens development. You will collaborate across optics, ophthalmology, chemistry and mechanical engineering to solve complex vision restoration challenges.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 2+ years in optical engineering, with proficiency in Zemax/Code V and data‑driven analysis using Python or MATLAB.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of directly related experience.
• Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English.
• 2 years of relevant experience in optical engineering or related field.
• Familiarity with optical design software and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end optical design and simulation for IOL projects using Zemax/Code V.
• Perform rigorous optical metrology and validation to ensure world‑class performance.
• Drive cross‑functional collaboration with optics, ophthalmology, chemistry and mechanical engineering teams.
• Apply Python, MATLAB and ML tools to accelerate design decisions and robustness.
• Mentor teammates, lead design reviews and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
