Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. is building a new Small Molecule manufacturing site in Elkton, VA, and seeks a DP Operations Specialist to support commissioning, qualification, start-up, and ongoing operations.

You will partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Technical teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient start-up and production as the site scales. With 5+ years in Drug Product/SDI manufacturing and a strong background in GMP, you will help drive continuous improvement and lean practices,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Drug Product/SDI manufacturing, including operations.
• Experience in cross-functional manufacturing/technical environments with process support or start-up activities.
• Knowledge of GMP, quality and compliance in pharma manufacturing.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Support commissioning, qualification, start-up, and readiness for the new Small Molecule facility in Elkton, VA.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Technical Operations, and Supply Chain for safe, compliant plant start-up.
• Provide technical and operational support during start-up, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Assist technology transfer and implementation of commercial processes in the new facility.
• Define and improve operating practices, standard work, and procedures for reliable operations.
