Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Manager of Distribution Operations to oversee daily DC activities, ensure efficient goods flow, safety compliance, and ongoing process improvements. This leader will shape the distribution center’s growth in line with corporate objectives across a high-volume environment.

You will build and mentor a strong team, drive Lean/Six Sigma initiatives, manage labor plans, and partner with supply chain functions to meet service and cost goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in distribution, logistics, or supply chain management, with at least 6 years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience leading large teams in a high-volume, fast-paced distribution environment.
• Strong understanding of distribution and warehouse technologies (WMS, TMS) and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
• Excellent leadership skills, with a track record of building high-performance teams and fostering a positive work culture.
• Strong business acumen, with experience managing P&L, budgeting, and financial performance in a distribution setting.
• Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and coach a team of managers, supervisors, and distribution staff to ensure engagement, productivity, and performance.

• Manage labor planning and scheduling to ensure optimal staffing levels based on volume forecasts.
• Oversee the management of warehouse technology systems (WMS, automation tools) to improve operational performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve service levels and operational efficiency.

Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Distribution Operations is responsible for overseeing day-to-day distribution center operations, ensuring the efficient movement of goods, compliance with safety standards, and continuous improvement. This role emphasizes driving operational excellence, developing a strong team culture, and leading the strategic growth of the distribution center in alignment with overall business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

• Drive decision-making through strong business acumen, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, service improvement, and process innovation.


• Build partnerships with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, procurement, customer service, and transportation, to improve service levels and operational efficiency.


• Participate in strategic initiatives related to expansion, automation, and facility upgrades.

Stakeholder & Customer Management

• Act as the point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on distribution-related matters, providing updates on service levels, capacity, and improvements.


• Build and maintain relationships with key partners, vendors, and service providers to ensure smooth supply chain operations.


• Collaborate with sales, marketing, and customer service teams to understand customer needs and align distribution operations to meet or exceed those expectations.
