Job summary

GE Vernova’s Gas Power Data Science organization is building an enterprise ontology and knowledge graph to provide a shared, governed representation of the business for AI agents and advanced analytics.

You will own the ontology strategy across Gas Power domains, set modeling standards (OWL2, RDF/RDFS, SHACL, SPARQL), and serve as the final technical authority on ontology decisions to enable scalable, cross-domain governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information science, data science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4-6 years in data modeling, semantic technologies, or knowledge engineering, incl. 1-2 years with ontologies.
• Hands-on experience with OWL 2, RDF/RDFS, SHACL, SPARQL.
• Experience with ontology/graph/semantic modeling platforms (e.g., Neo4j, Protégé, Palantir Foundry, Atlan).
• Cloud data environments and integration patterns to connect semantic layers to enterprise data products.
• Ability to deliver defined technical scope within a broader roadmap.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management to translate requirements into semantic models.

Responsibilities

• Own ontology and knowledge graph strategy across Gas Power domains to create a coherent semantic layer.
• Set enterprise-wide modeling standards and patterns (OWL 2, RDF/RDFS, SHACL, SPARQL).
• Resolve cross-domain modeling conflicts and act as final authority for domain model decisions.
• Design scalable ontology work: staffing, training, and deployment across the program.
• Develop training curricula to enable SMEs to build and maintain domain models.
• Oversee overall ontology-building capability and scalable governance across the program.
• Define the model approval framework, review processes, and escalation paths.
• Partner with GenAI/ML and AI platform teams to ground RAG and agentic workflows in the knowledge graph.
• Communicate trade-offs and progress to technical teams and senior stakeholders.
• Contribute reusable standards, documentation, and mentoring to strengthen capability across the team.
