Job summary

Texas Oncology in Plano West is seeking a Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This full-time, weekday position (8:30am-5pm) offers no weekends, call or major holidays and provides professional nursing care under standard guidelines.

The RN will support cancer care delivery, coordinate care plans, and participate in company-wide quality initiatives while adhering to compliance programs and guidelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
• RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Must maintain continuing education requirements.
• Entry level - 0-3 years nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred (Level II).
• Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology strongly preferred (Level Senior).
• Oncology certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care.
• Assess health status by interviewing patient regarding current status and medical history.
• Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
• Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
• Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
• Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record in the chart.
• Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments.
• Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the chart.
• Coordinate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team; coordinate services related to patient care.
• Assist patients in locating available community resources.
• Inter professional collaboration.
• Acts as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
