Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Onchain Investigator to own end-to-end onchain investigations and cluster illicit activity targeting Coinbase and the crypto ecosystem.

You will lead investigation methodology and translate findings into detections and actions that protect customers and products. You will collaborate with product, engineering, and risk teams to embed threat mitigation from ideation to launch, and you will mentor others in new investigative techniques while briefing executives

Qualifications

• 5+ years of investigations including 3+ years onchain activity or blockchain intelligence.
• Deep knowledge of blockchain ecosystems, tracing across chains, bridges and laundering patterns.
• Proficient in Python or Go and SQL for data analysis and tooling.
• Track record of creating reusable investigation methods or dashboards.
• Ability to translate complex analysis into clear risk-based insights for execs.
• Strong OSINT capabilities across diverse topics.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own complex onchain investigations into threat actor infrastructure and related abuse.
• Drive clustering and attribution using blockchain analytics and OSINT, operationalize results.
• Build OSINT and onchain analysis pipelines, dashboards to scale detection.
• Lead post-incident reviews and suggest improvements to controls and posture.
• Partner with product, engineering, and risk teams to embed threat mitigation in lifecycle.
• Lead new techniques and brief executives with clear risk and actions.
