Job summary

MLCO Construction is seeking a Commercial Construction Superintendent to lead daily field operations on a Rockford, IL project and related markets. You will own on-site execution, coordinate multiple trades, and maintain strict safety and schedule discipline.

The role requires hands-on leadership, deep knowledge of commercial construction, and the ability to partner with the Project Manager to deliver high-quality results.

Qualifications

• 5 or more years of commercial construction field supervision experience.
• Experience with ground-up commercial construction and multiple trades.
• Willingness to travel for future assignments and work on-site.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily on-site operations for assigned commercial construction projects from mobilization through substantial completion and closeout.
• Direct and coordinate subcontractors, trade partners, vendors, and field personnel to maintain safe, productive, and efficient jobsite operations.
• Develop, maintain, and manage short-term construction schedules, including weekly look‑ahead schedules, manpower coordination, and material deliveries.
• Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to execute the overall project schedule, construction plans, and project objectives.
• Ensure construction activities are performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, building codes, and contractual requirements.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, workmanship, productivity, and compliance with established project standards.
• Maintain a safe and organized jobsite, enforce OSHA requirements, and conduct regular safety inspections and meetings.
• Coordinate site development, underground utilities, foundations, structural systems, building envelopes, and other construction activities as applicable to the project.
• Oversee construction sequencing and coordination between civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and finishing trades.
• Conduct quality‑control inspections and coordinate corrective work to maintain project standards.
• Coordinate with local authorities, inspectors, engineers, and other stakeholders to facilitate required inspections and approvals.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, photographs, manpower records, and other field documentation using Procore.
• Communicate field conditions, RFIs, design conflicts, and potential change-order issues to the Project Manager promptly.
• Participate in regular project meetings and provide clear updates on construction progress, scheduling, safety, and field concerns.
• Coordinate project punch lists, final inspections, turnover activities, and closeout requirements.
• Represent MLCO professionally when interacting with owners, subcontractors, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
