Job summary

CNPC USA is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to independently advance fracturing fluids and oilfield polymers. You will apply chemistry, polymer science and surfactant knowledge to develop materials, solve problems, and improve research methods while mentoring technicians.

The role involves presenting findings to technical and business partners, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, and supporting IP and publications. Some travel required; US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• At least five years of R&D experience in oilfield chemicals.
• Knowledge of fracturing fluids, acidizing fluids, proppants and related materials.
• Experience evaluating performance of oilfield polymers and surfactants.
• Strong independent work and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
• US work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop fracturing fluids, oilfield polymers, surfactants, and related materials.
• Design and conduct laboratory research, analyze results, and improve procedures.
• Develop milestones and coordinate research activities with the manager.
• Mentor laboratory personnel and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Incorporate safety, health, and environmental considerations into solutions.
• Prepare reports, proposals, and publications; support IP disclosures.
• Collaborate with colleagues and customers to address technical challenges.
• Travel as needed and maintain compliance with lab safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
