Kern County is seeking a Senior Office Services Specialist to support multiple departments. The role involves coordinating exams, maintaining scheduling and office procedures, and ensuring adherence to technical and customer service standards.
A background check and valid ID may be required, with potential post-offer medical or drug screening. Applicants must meet the stated educational and experience requirements and pass performance exams.
Examinations: Performance Exam (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicant's knowledge of event coordination and scheduling techniques; inventory maintenance principles; customer service principles; standard office procedures, methods, and equipment; transcription methods; basic filing and recordkeeping principles; basic mathematical concepts; English language, grammar, and punctuation.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the exam process.
This position works in various departments throughout Kern County.
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent and four (4) years of progressively responsible lead, clerical, general computer and office experience directly related to the area of assignment; ORan equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission. Candidates are encouraged to indicate acceptable geographical locations in which they would accept employment on their application form.
