Job summary

Kaiser Permanente seeks an occupational therapist to provide services under supervision and guidance of leadership. The role includes conducting in-service trainings, serving as a clinical instructor, and mentoring staff while supporting quality improvement initiatives.

The position requires a graduate OT degree, California OT license, BLS, and NP I. Candidates with 2+ years of OT experience will thrive in a collaborative Labor/Management environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years of experience as an occupational therapist.
• Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy curriculum with a Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral degree with certification in occupational therapy.

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy services under direction of the Director/Assistant Director or designee.
• Lead in-service presentations and staff training.
• Serve as a clinical instructor and mentor staff as needed.
• Provide consultation to staff and participate in performance improvement projects.
• Assist in development and implementation of new clinical practice models for care delivery.
• Monitor contract therapists and treatments in Kaiser facilities as necessary.

Job Summary:

Provides occupational therapy services for patients under the direction and supervision of the Director, Assistant Director, and or Clinical Supervisor or designee.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Assumes the responsibility as outlined in the Occupational Therapists job summary and responsibilities.
• Provides department in-service as requested by management (e.g., journal club presentation, and or regular in-service presentation).
• Serves as a clinical instructor as requested by management.
• Assists in orientation and training of employees as needed.
• Provides consultation to staff.
• May act as a mentor for staff.
• May provide input into the clinical competency of staff.
• Identifies process Improvement opportunities.
• May assist in the development and implementation of new clinical practice models for the delivery of care.
• Participates in performance improvement projects or other committees as requested by management.
• May be involved in the clinical competency of COTAs and Rehab Aides.
• May monitor the work of contract therapists and the treatment of patients in Kaiser and non-Kaiser facilities.
• Performs other duties as required within scope of practice.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

• Minimum two (2) years of experience as an occupational therapist required.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy curriculum with a Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral degree with certification in occupational therapy or foreign trained equivalent

License, Certification, Registration

• Occupational Therapist License (California) required at hire
• Basic Life Support
• National Provider Identifier required at hire

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements
• Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
