Job summary

The Physician at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health provides medical care within the physician’s specialty, supervising and delivering patient care in line with hospital policies and medical directives.

The role requires MD or DO and post-graduate residency training, with clinical and administrative responsibilities including documentation, on-call coverage where applicable, and collaboration with the service line leader to ensure timely care and quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required.
• Post graduate residency training required.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and related administrative services to ensure timely care of patients.
• Abide by the Dartmouth Health Bylaws for the Professional Staff and Code of Conduct.
• Review records and detailed medical history from patient(s).
• Determine appropriate diagnosis (diagnoses) and treatment plan(s).
• Determine and order appropriate screening and diagnostic tests and studies.
• Obtain informed consent for treatment diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and studies.
• Interpret and evaluate test and study results.
• Prescribe medications, treatments, and medical devices within specialty scope of practice and regulations.
• Initiate referrals to other providers as necessary.
• Initiate admission/discharge of patients, if applicable.
• Provide consultation, education, and counseling regarding management of acute and chronic illnesses and injuries.
• Complete documentation in a timely manner.
• Provide patient and family-centered care.
• Ensure patient privacy, confidentiality and informed consent.
• Supervise APPs as directed.
• Participate in CME.
• Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
