Job Summary

The Senior Nursing Project Manager is responsible for independently leading projects and projects teams that support the strategic or operational goals of VUMC nursing. Identifies and assesses appropriate resources and creates timelines to ensure appropriate completion of projects. Coordinates the activities of teams by becoming familiar with systems scope and project objectives, as well as the role and functions of each team member. Collaborates with key nursing and system stakeholders to create standard processes that facilitate projects and programs.

Required Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with BSN Project and Program Management experience 3 years’ experience
  • HIGHLY PREFER: Certifications – Example CPN, PMP, CNML, or NE-BC Masters Degree.

  • Project Management (Advanced): Develops plans for personnel, facilities and equipment resources for multiple projects concurrently. Reviews and approves estimates prepared by project staff. Responsible for project phases, costs, and sign-offs. Trains others in planning and operations management techniques. Resolves complex problems and takes corrective action.
  • Consulting Services (Intermediate): Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of consulting services in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses mastery of the core technology, products, services and operations within field of work and is fully capable of their delivery without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example and giving technical instruction. Demonstrates acute knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies. Attends industry seminars and forums on a regular basis.
  • Process Improvement (Advanced): Identifies, analyzes and improves upon existing business processes for optimization and to meet standards of quality.
  • Project Planning (Advanced): Demonstrates ability to forecast resource needs, identify and break work down into discrete and measurable tasks, set priorities, define dependencies, schedule activities, prepare acceptance criteria and organize work for large, complex projects requiring diverse functions and/or operations. Continuously monitors and follows up on buyins and commitments. Competently handles multiple projects simultaneously, balancing and scheduling tasks requiring dependencies and those which can be accomplished independently. Accurately estimates and plans complex projects and assignments. Maintains perspective between the overall picture and the details. Is proficient in the advanced features of project management tools.
