Job summary

UCOR seeks a Nuclear Facility Safety Engineer for ORNL in Oak Ridge, TN. The role requires a BS in engineering and 7+ years of safety experience, including ability to obtain a Q clearance.

Qualifications

• BS in an appropriate engineering discipline from a four-year accredited college or university.
• 7+ years of experience required.
• Ability to obtain a Q clearance.
• Ability to become qualified in Unreviewed Safety Question Determination Preparer/Reviewer; Unreviewed Change Determination Preparer/Reviewer; Nuclear Facility Safety Engineer within one year of hiring.

Responsibilities

• Prepares Nuclear Facility Safety products such as calculations, scopes of work, and hazard identification and analysis in support of new or modified safety basis documents.
• Support project and functional Unreviewed Safety Question and Unreviewed Change Determinations for assigned work packages and procedures. Follows procedures in the development of Nuclear Facility Safety products.
• May provide technical support in the areas of operations, maintenance, inspections and tests, and configuration management for assigned facilities and/or projects.
• Understands and uses computer software and applications associated with Nuclear Facility Safety assignments.
• Complies with company’s safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies.
• Develops an understanding of therole ofeach functional area within the company.
• Conforms to company core values.
• Acts with integrity in all elements of responsibility.
• Expresses ideas clearly and listens effectively to the ideas of others.
