Job summary

The Evolving Solution Services in Chicago seeks an experienced Accountant to support financial operations and reporting. The Senior Staff Accountant will work with the Director of Finance and the broader team to maintain accurate records, prepare statements, and support grant accounting across SWOP and subsidiaries.

Responsibilities include reconciliations, journal entries, P&L reviews, audits support, and compliance with internal controls.

Qualifications

• CPA certification or five years of bookkeeping experience.
• Familiarity with nonprofit federal grants compliance (GATA) SEFA experience.
• Experience with QuickBooks is essential.
• Mastery of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Fluency in Spanish preferred.
• Access to a car and ability to drive.
• Respect for diverse cultures and languages; ability to work in a multicultural setting.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intercompany transactions.
• Reconcile bank accounts for SWOP and subsidiaries.
• Prepare Financial Statements.
• Prepare, record and keep accurate journal entries for SWOP and subsidiaries as needed.
• Maintain SWOP Accounting System (QuickBooks) accurate and current.
• Generate, review, and update monthly P&L reports.
• Prepare monthly expense reports for government funded grants.
• Reconcile credit cards.
• Maintain Accounts Receivable current.
• Assist Director of Finance with budgets and revisions as needed.
• Prepare and make bank deposits weekly.
• Work with Director of Finance with preparation for internal annual audit assisting the auditing firm with accounting records and support.
• Ensure compliance with internal accounting procedures and accounting controls.
• Support Director of Finance with any other financial activities as needed.
