Job summary
WJCL, the ABC affiliate in Savannah, Georgia, is seeking an Executive Producer to oversee newscasts in a fast-paced environment. You will build a vision for the broadcast and lead a team to execute that vision across air, online, and social platforms.
You’ll recruit and coach producers and reporters, manage deadlines, respond to breaking news, and partner with the News Director to deliver compelling, authoritative coverage that resonates with viewers.
Qualifications
- Three years producing experience.
- Strong writing and visual storytelling ability.
- Ability to manage multiple crews and deadlines.
- High journalistic integrity and ethics.
- Military experience will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Oversee rundown and scripts for the newscasts.
- Research, pitch, and gather enterprise stories.
- Lead graphics usage to enhance presentation.
- Coach and motivate producers, reporters, and VJs.
- Respond to breaking news and cover live events.
- Post stories and video on station sites and mobile.
- Lead editorial meetings and pitch enterprise stories.
- Administrative duties: scheduling, reviews, training, feedback.
- Coordinate with news staff, promotions, and engineering.
