Illinois Farm Bureau is seeking a senior writer and copy editor to produce content for FarmWeek, FarmWeekNow.com and daily newsletters. You will write and edit for print and digital platforms, conduct interviews and help with illustrative materials.

The role includes collaboration across the IFB team, social media promotion, and occasional photography. The position requires 7+ years of experience, excellent communication skills, AP Style knowledge, and proficiency in social media and Microsoft

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant writing/editing experience or combination of related experience, education and training.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including strong writing, editing and interviewing abilities.
• Strong knowledge of AP Style.
• Computer proficiency with social media, digital communications platforms, Microsoft Office and desktop publishing programs.
• Good project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Contributes ideas and content for print publications, social media, IFB websites and other IFB communications.
• Conducts interviews and research, writes stories and assists with illustrative materials or photography.
• Collaborates with staff to coordinate coverage.
• Promotes IFB news content through social media.
• Reads, proofs and corrects spelling, grammar and usage per AP and local style.
• Acts as subject matter expert, maintains sources, ensures content aligns with policy.
• Keeps abreast of trends and opportunities in the field; supports page layout and design for weekly publications.
• Handles general news assignments as needed.
