Job summary

GDIT is seeking a Senior News Editor to copy-edit content for internet-based publications and ensure adherence to style guides. The role requires native-level English fluency and knowledge of regional languages; it includes verifying translations and maintaining the correspondent network.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's in English or journalism and at least 3 years of related experience. US citizenship and Secret clearance are required. This on-site position is located at MacDill AFB, FL.

• Research news content to conform to program guidelines on sourcing, libel and plagiarism.
• Build and maintain correspondent network; coordinate article submissions.

HOW A SENIOR NEWS EDITOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

• Identifies and applies established style guide to non-conforming submissions.
• Native-level English fluency is required, and regional language fluency preferred but not required.
• The Editor must be proficient in the nuances of required languages including grammar and journalism editing standards.
• Tasks may include verifying translations, making recommendations to customer regarding disposition of reader comments, researching news content to ensure conformance to program guidelines regarding sourcing, libel, and plagiarism, monitoring the regional press, finding instances of content propagation, and providing analysis on the reprinting source, and executing technical tasks utilizing locally developed tools associated with internet-based publications.
• Tasks may include filling in for the Assignment Editor, responsible for building and maintaining the correspondent network and coordinating the article submission process and communication with the project network.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education: Bachelor's Degree is required in English, Journalism, or a related discipline.

Experience: 3+ years' experience in writing, editing and/or journalism is highly preferred.

Security clearance level: DoW Secret clearance

Skills and abilities: Regional languages sought, fluency preferred but not required: Arabic

The likely salary range for this position is $93,500 - $126,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
