Job summary

The Texas A&M University System Offices' Center for Applied Communications and Networks seeks a Network Systems Research Engineer III-IV or Senior Network Systems Engineer I to advance next‑generation networking research. Under general direction, you will design, implement, and test innovative network solutions and support research initiatives across campuses.

Responsibilities include network design, installation, testing, security, disaster recovery, and reporting to sponsors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field; six to nine years of network experience depending on level.
  • Candidates should have experience with research networks and security patterns.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols, standards, and testing methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research proposals and evaluate technical approaches for network opportunities.
  • Design and document research networks and standards; plan deployments.
  • Configure, install, test and validate research networks and security measures.
  • Provide Tier I-III support and assist researchers with data collection and diagnostics.
  • Prepare project updates, reports, and presentations for sponsors and symposia.
  • Lead and mentor student teams; participate in professional development.
