Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer - Network to join our global team that designs, builds, and maintains network infrastructure for Akamai Connected Cloud.

You will collaborate with software development, operations and network teams to ensure scalable and reliable services. We value extensive experience with large-scale distributed systems, automation pipelines, and CI/CD tools, plus strong networking knowledge.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent.
• Experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, or DevOps with large-scale distributed systems.
• Advanced proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet, or similar.
• Experience with Linux networking at the userspace level and open source networking software such as FRR, Bird, or goBGP.
• Understanding of networking such as TCP/IP, OSI model, and Cisco or Juniper routers and switches.
• Experience developing applications, contributing to codebases, conducting code review, and writing scripts using languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Partner across teams to ensure the reliability, scalability and usability of our network infrastructure, products, and services.
• Defining requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence new designs and standards.
• Developing automation pipelines to support development, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Defining SLOs for network infrastructure within the Akamai Connected Cloud to ensure high availability and performance.
• Working with Dev and Quality Assurance teams to create more robust solutions, code improvement and stability.
• Serving as a mentor to team members, driving code quality standards and providing thought leadership on architectural decisions.
