Job summary

OBXtek is seeking a Network Security Systems Instructor to support a US Department of State contract in Virginia. The role requires clear communication of complex security concepts to professionals with varying backgrounds.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in NSS disciplines (CCTV, data center management, cyber countermeasures) and a background in adult education. A SECRET clearance is required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or related degree; formal education may be substituted by equivalent training
• 6+ years of experience installing, programming, troubleshooting and repairing NSS devices and related systems such as network gear, CCTV, fiber, and security devices
• 3+ years in public speaking, delivering briefings or instruction to groups of ten+ people
• Working knowledge and professional certification supporting relevant NSS systems
• 3+ years of DoS installation experience preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication with varied audiences
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
• Experience in learning analysis, design, development, delivery, and evaluation
• 3+ years as an instructor, educator, or consultant in a professional setting
• Knowledge of Adult Learning Methodologies and instructional design best practices
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain/maintain SECRET clearance

Responsibilities

• Completes self-paced study and mentors training teams to teach topics covering at least 25 days of material
• Completes instructor qualification training and demonstrates proficiency in subject matter and instructional techniques
• Delivers hands-on training by guiding, demonstrating, practicing, and evaluating student understanding
• Prepares classrooms and labs, sets up AV equipment, and tests training devices
• Performs closeout activities: training records, materials, repairs, and readiness for next course
• Collaborates with curriculum designers to develop training material aligned with objectives
• Participates in developing and writing training materials for curriculum reviews
• Provides recommendations to improve training materials based on needs analysis
• Mentors instructors and provides cross-functional support across teams
• Participates in cross-training to master additional topics
• Guides team-teaching to ensure learning objectives are met
